PREGNANT AND MATERNITY YOGA

Prepare your body and mind for pregnancy, birth and the time afterwards.

Strengthen the bond with yourself and your baby in the womb and in maternity.

See upcoming classes or visit our schedule to see our weekly pregnant or maternity yoga offerings, where you can always sign up for an ongoing class as a drop-in.

Yoga is a safe and beneficial form of exercise both during and after pregnancy and supports the changes that take place in a woman's body and mind. Presence and movement through yoga and meditation is one of the best things you can give both yourself and your baby in the womb or to build yourself up after pregnancy and give your baby a harmonious start in life!

At Northern Light Yoga, we want to make you feel welcomed and part of an inclusive and conscious community for growth and development. In our pregnancy yoga and maternity yoga courses, we do our best to meet each individual's needs, provide personal guidance and customize exercises.

She has specialized in spiritual pre-and postnatal yoga and is a women's circle facilitator. • Pregnancy Circle - nourishing yoga and community

Welcome dear pregnant mama to these circles, where we will dive into tailored yoga for the changes of pregnancy and motherhood.

These circles will consist of nourishing meditations and movements that aim to bring presence, grounding, flexibility, harmony, and rest to support you through this rite of passage into Motherhood. Through our practice, we will also make space for questions and sharing.

In this 6-week course I will support you on your journey of transitioning into motherhood and hold space for all the different experiences a woman can have when her body is in such a change.

This course will capture the following topics: breathing techniques to support pregnancy, taking care of your pelvic floor, stretches for your spine, shoulders, arms, and legs, basic meditations to connect with yourself and baby, nourishing mindful movement sequences, guided rest and some birth preparation and partner practices.

This course is meant to be available for women in all stages of pregnancy and the build-up of the course will be tailored to the women joining. If you have special ailments I will support you in the best possible way. No previous experience with yoga is needed to reap the benefits of this course.

  • Mom & Baby Circle - calm yoga and community

Welcome dear mothers and babies, to a nourishing course at Northern Light Yoga. 6 weeks we meet before summer in a circle to share calm and supportive yoga, framed by a community atmosphere with other women in the same phase of motherhood.

The circles will consist of a tailored yoga practice designed for this special stage.

In this 6- week course I will support you on your journey of recovery after birth with connecting, stretching, guided meditation, and rest. Your baby will be introduced to this practice as well, being in a circle with other newborns.

I welcome women and babies from around 6 weeks after birth until the babies' stage of crawling fast around (normally when the baby is from 7 months to 1 year but this can vary a lot).

This course will capture the following topics: breathing techniques to support your postpartum body, taking care of your pelvic floor, stretches for your spine, shoulders, arms, and legs, basic meditations for mama and baby plus introducing songs and movements to do together with your baby. Some massage techniques for both baby and mama to take care of you two will be introduced as well.

  • Postnatal

Postnatal Yoga is a wonderful class focused on exercises for postnatal recovery of the mother. Suitable from 4 weeks after birth, this class provides an opportunity for Mums to do something for themselves! The babies watch, sleep, feed, play together or get involved in some of the exercises.

Particular attention is paid to tone and strengthen the pelvic floor and abdominals.

Muscle tension arising from feeding or carrying babies is alleviated by specific stretches which release and open the back and shoulders. Spinal and pelvic alignment exercises help improve posture and ease lots of the common aches and pains of new mums.

Starting gently, we gradually build up to develop more strength, stamina, and flexibility as the weeks go by.
