Is Kundalini Yoga dangerous? I often get this question and I have to say that I can't speak for everything called Kundalini Yoga. There are many things around that are called 'Kundalini Yoga'. I can only talk about the Kundalini Yoga tradition that we teach here at Northern Light Yoga.
And I have to say - yes. Kundalini yoga is dangerous. Why is it dangerous?
It's not dangerous for you, no. The methods, the technology, the framework is safe. It focuses on strengthening your nervous system so that you are able to embrace life more deeply. To live more, to simply process all the information coming in, and be more able to make your contribution to life and to the world. But that's exactly what makes YOU dangerous, because kundalini yoga puts you in touch with your power. Kundalini yoga empowers you so that you know what you live for, you know what you stand for, and you're not afraid to stand up for your rights, and for the people and the world around you.
That's dangerous! Someone who is not afraid and feels the confidence and self-esteem in her heart, who knows her birthright to be happy - is dangerous. Because you can't be controlled anymore - that's the goal of kundalini yoga. That you are empowered to be who you are, what you are, and that you fulfill your destiny.
So if you're interested in treading on a dangerous path of self-confidence, come to us. But don't worry, it's not harmful to you in any way. The practice we teach is very safe, it's very well researched, it's based on methods and techniques passed down through centuries.
